We are nearly there, what a year!
In what has been an ever-changing landscape, Belridge SC has gone from strength to strength over the last 12 months. With the festive season around the corner, I would like to take this time to reflect on some of our major successes this year.
Working through another year of COVID uncertainty has been a difficult task. But at Belridge SC we have continued to make some big strides forward. The Global pandemic has tested our ability to adapt and evolve to a new online world. As a school we have developed our skill set and worked hard to put together our Connected Learning Plan. Hopefully we will not need it, but if the situation arises, we are prepared.
2021 has saw some massive events at the College, at the start of the year we opened our new Performing Arts Centre. Our Arts students did us proud performing some beautiful dance and musicial pieces. Later in the year we held the official opening of the Bindi Bindi Garden. In the presence of Noongar Radio and our local member Caitlin Collins, Elder Josh McGuire opened the proceeding with his welcome to country and smoking ceremony. It was a beautiful sunny spring day and the garden looked amazing. A big thank you to Mr Werner and the team for their work with the garden.
2021 also saw the celebration of our 30th birthday here at Belridge. The birthday event was celebrated on Friday 5th November with staff and students from across the decades in attendance. Guests were then treated to a wonderful gallery display, detailing the memories from each year for the last 30 years. We were then treated to some heart-warming vignettes from our long standing staff members Anna Dyer, Lyn Girvin and Lazo Njegich as they spoke about “What Belridge means to me”.
Our staff have engaged in a variety of professional learning activities across the year. As part of our commitment to build the capacity of our staff and develop future leaders, our second cohort has been selected as part of the JLC Future Leaders Framework forming a group of 17 staff from BSC in total. Our Senior Management Team has also been involved in a suite of training to develop their skills as leaders, further building capacity at the College.
Our work with our educational partners and local businesses has continued with some amazing opportunities being provided for our students. The support from ECU, ABCN and from the Rotary Club has been outstanding.
Our new STEM and Humanities Academic Enrichment Program has completed its first year, with a new cohort ready to join in 2022. Our inaugural AEP showcase took place earlier this term with students presenting a project that they have been working on across the year to the community. The event was well attended and received a great amount of positive feedback. Well done to Ms Bartle and all involved on such a fantastic event.
Our sporting achievements have been coming thick and fast, with the most notable being our back-to-back wins in the Kim Hughes Shield. Our Cricket and Netball programs are amongst the best, if not the best in the state. The presentation evening at the WACA this term was evidence of the success of these programs. A big thank you to the staff involved in the delivery of these programs, in particular Mr Ogilvie and Miss Markovic for their efforts throughout the year and Mr Bennett for his support.
Our Fashion and Design students have also seen success this year, in particular Belridge winning the special award in the Mandurah Wearable Art and the Society and Environment Formal wear categories at the APEX fashion awards. A big thank you to Anna Dyer for her support of these students.
Our Year 10 Business students have been involved in an Entrepreneurship exercise that has seen a massive profit of $409.60 being raised for our Christmas Hamper Appeal. A big thank you to the students and Mrs Gendle for all of their work with this. It really will make a difference to our community over the festive period.
Our Year 6 Transition Program is complete with over 180 students in attendance at the last event. The program has been a great success, with lots of happy faces seen around the school as they prepare for their big move to the College. The college staff are looking forward to building strong relationship with our new families next year.
We also held the Joondalup Learning Community (JLC) Year 5 Student Leadership day here at the College this term. It was great to see a room full of future leaders here at the College, a big thank you to Emma Smith from Edgewater Primary School, for planning and delivery of the event.
Our Student Services team have been busy with our positive incentives. With a new focus on Attendance and Kindness, we have seen a number of students rewarded for their efforts. Our end of Semester reward days was also a huge success, with students lucky enough to attend Adventure World or take part in a special onsite rewards day.
Some key updates for 2022, a new Deputy Principal will be joining the team for the start of the year. Once process has been completed I will let you know of the outcome. We also have Ben Dawkins joining us as the new Head of Student Services Year 11-12. Extra resourcing has been placed into the structure of Student Services to add further support for our young people.
Over the holidays some key refurbishments will also take place at the College. The resurfacing of the Netball courts will occur, ensuring a top quality surface for our students and the community to use. Also an update of the Student Services building will provide a more effective service for our students and staff.
We have a number of staff leaving us at the end of the year, including some retirements.
I would like to wish them all the very best in whatever the future holds and thank them for their contributions to Belridge SC over the years. A special mention to the lovely Janis, the front office will not be the same without you.
I would like to finish with the biggest thank you to each and every person who donated items, food or money to our Belridge Christmas Hamper Appeal. Our hampers go directly to our local families. Thank you so much for helping make their Christmas a little brighter. Your generosity means so much to those struggling at this time.
Looking forward to seeing what exciting endeavours 2022 will hold - take care over the festive season.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Sharon Lyon
Principal
A huge thank you to our staff, students and parents for your generous donations towards our Christmas Hamper appeal this year. As a result of your generosity, we were able to create a mammoth collection of hampers to be gifted to families in need. Thank you also to Mrs Edmonds and her team of student councillors on creating beautiful hampers.

Vice Principal - Years 7, 8 and 9
Year 6 Orientation Day
The Year 6 (Year 7 2022) Orientation Day was held on Tuesday December 7 when all the incoming students met as a cohort for the first time. Over 180 students participated and enjoyed access to the College’s new state of the art Auditorium, taster lessons in Digital Technologies, Home Economics, Physical Education, Science, Maths, HASS and Design & Technology. Students followed a pseudo high school timetable moving from class to class. The students were assisted by the Year 9 Peer Support Leaders who ensured smooth transitions for the students. I spoke to all the students at the conclusion of the day and received positive feedback on the format and enjoyment of the day. Parents also enjoyed a quick school tour. For some parents it was their third tour, whilst for others it was their first. I hope they increased their understanding of the College’s facilities and broad range of programs on offer. Thanks must be given to Mrs Edmonds (Year Coordinator) for her meticulous planning and coordination on the day. Also, mention must be given to Mr Richardson and all the staff who presented the taster lessons. We all look forward to working with the incoming class of 2022.
Year 7 Immunisation Program 2022
Year 7 2022 students will be given Information and forms regarding the Year 7 2022 Immunisation Program on their commencement next year. Students receive the Boostrix and Gardasil 9 vaccines in a two-dose regime over a six-month period. Completed forms are to be returned back to the College to ensure students are registered for the first vaccine which is planned for 14 March 2022.
Year 10 2022 Meningococcal Vaccinations
All year 9 students have been given information and forms regarding the Year 10 2022 Meningococcal vaccinations to be held at the College on Monday 14 March 2022. Forms were due back this year to allow for processing. Please contact the city of Joondalup directly if you have not returned the information pack.
Year 7 – 10 Semester 2 Reports
The end of the term and year is fast approaching. Semester 2 reports will be emailed to parents/caregivers on Tuesday 14 December. I hope Semester 2 reports reflect the fantastic work all students have produced and the progress they have made. Please review the report and celebrate areas of good achievement and also set goals for areas of improvement in 2022. Please remember to save your reports, as the link expires after four weeks.
Christmas break
Finally, I wish all students, parents and extended family members a very joyous, safe and relaxing holiday break. Looking forward to working with you all in 2022.
Mario Pisano
Vice Principal - Middle School
Deputy Principal - Years 10, 11 and 12
Year 12 students had their final WACE exam on Thursday 19 November. Again our students sat their exams at Woodvale and St. Mark's Colleges. We ensured that our students were well prepared to sit their exams in new surroundings by taking the students on a tour of Woodvale SC campus, where they were shown the exam room and facilities. We also had a Belridge staff member present at the start of each exam with spare equipment and identification forms, and a friendly smile, to ensure that our students were well supported throughout their exams. The whole exercise went very smoothly. I now wish all our Year 12’s the best in their future endeavours.
Special exam arrangements for Year 12 in 2022
Students in Year 12, 2021 and their parents need to read this information carefully.
Candidates who have a permanent or temporary disability, illness and/or specific learning disability that could disadvantage them in demonstrating their knowledge, skills and understandings in standard assessments may apply to the School Curriculum and Standards Authority to sit WACE examinations under special arrangements. Applications can be made for the written and/or practical examinations. Applications must be made by the school. The Authority will notify the school and candidate of the decision.
The granting of special examination arrangements is not automatic, but takes into account medical and/or psychometric evidence plus supporting school-based information related to the candidate’s ability to access the examination. The role of special examination arrangements is to provide reasonable access to an examination. Schools should ensure that they have placed on record all current medical/psychological documents that relate to their decision to trial special arrangements for the student. Each application is considered individually, with decisions based on the nature of each examination to be sat by the candidate.
There are five sections:
Section A | Student details - to be completed by student |
Section B | Provisions requested - to be completed by the school and the student |
Section C | School case coordination - to be completed by the school and the student |
Section D | Supporting information - relevant sections to be completed by the school, psychologist, occupational therapist |
Section E | Medical evidence - to be completed by a medical practitioner/registered health professional (if applicable) |
Section F | Student’s declaration and principal’s declaration - to be completed by all applicants. |
N.B. Providing evidence for Sections D and E is the responsibility of the student and parent.
Closing date for applications is 1 April 2022, but the process is long and complicated and needs to be started early in Term 1. If you think your son or daughter is eligible please contact me at the school on 9408 8000.
Year 11
The Year 11 students have also completed their final exams and work placements. On their final day, students returned to school to hand in their Workplace Learning logbooks and go through their exams with their teachers. Also, students that were not up to date in their certificate courses were sent letters to return to school to catch up. They now enjoy a nice break to reenergise before Year 12 starts.
Years 10 and 11 OLNA
Students moving into Years 11 and 12 and who have not yet achieved OLNA should take some time over the break to prepare for the March round of OLNA. Students have been given access to OLNA help via Connect. Please contact Mr Notarpietro if you need assistance.
2022 Years 11 and 12
Arrangements for Period 5 Wednesdays
It is a timely reminder for the parents of all Year 11 and 12 students that Wednesday period 5 is an important period on the timetable and that students should not make arrangements to use the period for non-school activities, such as work.
Year 12 ATAR students will be required every Wednesday Period 5, and all other Senior School students will need to attend where meetings and information-giving sessions are organised. Also, students in Years 11 and 12 that do not meet deadlines for assessments, or are not up to date with their certificate courses, will be required to attend period 5 Wednesday until they complete this work.
Members of the executive team will contact parents of students behind in their courses. Failure to attend when required may result in loss of good standing.
Finally, I hope all Year 10 and 11 students have a good break and return refreshed for a great 2021.
Mobile Phone Use
A reminder to all students that due to government regulations, students will not be permitted to use mobile phones at the school. The rule is mobiles phones must be switched off and out of sight from the time students enter the school grounds, until they are released from class at the end of the day. Please discuss this again at home, so we don't start the school year with a spate of phone confiscations - thank you.
… one Final Message
May I request that staff, parents and students be careful on the roads around the college. Students need to be extra careful whilst crossing the road when using mobile phones and need to remember to look right, then left and then right again. Students need to take extra care crossing the exit from the main school car park as they are obscured from the vision of drivers by a solid wall, and also when crossing Ocean Reef Road, where the speed limit is 70kph. The safest option is using the lights or crossing attendants.

Saving Student Reports!
Years 7 to 10 Semester 2 student reports would have been emailed to parents on Tuesday 14 December. Please remember to save a copy each time you receive your child's report as the link is set to expire 4 weeks after delivery.
Thank you.
ABCN Workshop – Build a Bridge
On Tuesday 16th of November, we departed at the end of period 2 and had to rush to the bus stop, check-in to the WA Safe app and get going. After we made it to the venue (after getting lost a few times) we were half an hour early so we walked to a grassy area near RAC arena and had a snack. We then walked back and when we walked in, we saw the pizza!
We were then put into groups depending on our name tags colour and ate our pizza. We then started to plan how to build our bridges, which had to hold a block of Cadbury chocolate. We brainstormed ideas and then got to work to build our bridges. We had $50 to purchase our materials and build the bridge, which was a bit of a challenge, but we all managed it and all of our creations withstood the weight of the chocolate bar, so we were able to eat and share the chocolate around!
We then ran to the bus stop (nearly missing the bus!) and then got on CAT bus back to the train station to head back.

FIRST Lego League Competition
Earlier this year, a group of Year 7 and 8 students began working on the FIRST Lego League Challenge. This involved coding a Lego robot to complete missions on a game table, as well as a research project. The theme for this year was ‘Cargo Connect’ and involved looking at ways to transport goods more efficiently.
The Krazy Koderz worked hard on coding their robot to complete as many missions as possible, including unloading a cargo plane and lowering a bridge. They struggled at first, having to learn the coding program but soon figured out the best way to approach the challenge. They also developed a possible solution to the issue of not receiving up to date tracing information on packages. The solution was to have a QR code attached to the package that would be scanned at each transit area and an instant email or notification would be sent to you.
All of this work led to being ready for competition day. On Saturday 27 November, the team competed against 30 other teams in the regional competition at St Stephen’s School, Carramar. On the day, the students had to present their project to a panel of judges and had 3 opportunities to score points in the robot challenge. It was a great day, where the team worked together, tweaking their coding in between the bouts to gain more points and interacting with the other teams.
Although the robot didn’t always do what was planned, it scored highly in some of the rounds. The team learnt a lot from the experience and had a fantastic day.
‘I have learnt lots from the Lego League experience. I have learnt to code with Spike Prime, what gracious professionalism means and to work well as a team. All in all, the Lego League was a fun and education experience and I encourage other students to join next year.’ – Matthew Kay

Santos Science Experience
Earlier in the year, three Year 10 students had the opportunity to attend the Santos Science Experience. This Australia-wide event is held at many universities across the country for aspiring scientists to see first hand the real-life work of a real-life Scientist.
Beau Greig, Heungin Jung and Thomas Kay spent three days at ECU Joondalup and various other locations being immersed in doing research, carrying out experiments and looking for solutions to sustainability problems.
The Rotary Clubs of Northbridge and Joondalup supported their participation. Rotary clubs are always keen to support the development of young people, and this was a wonderful opportunity they provided for students at our school. The three students subsequently gave a talk at a Rotary Club of Northbridge meeting, where they gave a brief overview, then some details of the Experience and astounded the audience with their exploits. One of the students had taken photographs and video footage of the activities which brought their talk to life. Questions were fielded from the floor, which the students handled expertly.
Congratulations to the three students on their passion for science, and in their high-level conduct in preparing for and delivering the talk, and for having the courage to put themselves forward for the experience.
Thanks to the Rotary Clubs of Northbridge and Joondalup for their kind support of our students, and for the parents for supporting their students to take advantage of this opportunity. Thanks also to Mr Brad Kay who provided transport to the presentation and Mrs Glynne Bartle for all her behind the scenes work leading up to the event.
If you have any thoughts about your own future as a scientist, make sure you speak to your science teacher. Maybe you too could go to the Santos Science Experience.

Young Business Entrepreneurs
This semester, the students from the Year 10 Business class, have been engaged in a course based on the Young Change Agents $20 Boss programme. The students were allocated $20 from their subject fees to develop a product or service, which they then had to promote and sell to staff and students. The class engaged in a range of activities prior to their product launch designed to teach them skills in Creativity and Innovation, Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Communication, Digital Literacy, Financial Capability, Presentation and Social Enterprise.
The students created a range of products and services including organising and running a Minecraft tournament, hand painted and decorated door stops, stationery sets, eco-friendly handmade bees wax candles, tote bags, a range of 3D printed objects, lucky dips, Christmas items and games. The students sourced the materials they required, created spreadsheets to work out the costings, including labour, profit margins and the quantity required to be sold in order to cover the costs. I am very pleased and proud to announce that the students raised $409.60 from their market stalls which has been donated to the school’s Christmas Appeal, to benefit our local community. This money will be used to purchase food items which will help families over the Christmas period.

Year 7 and 8 Reward Day
On Monday the 13th of December students with good standing in Year 7 and 8 participated in reward activities during periods 3 & 4. The Student Services team organised several inflatable obstacle courses and novelty events, along with a free sausage sizzle. The Student Services team would like to acknowledge all those who made these events run so smoothly:
- Year Coordinators Narae Howard and Jodie Grieve for organising and coordinating the event
- Phil Leenman - School Chaplain for organising and cooking the BBQ.
- All staff who helped supervise the event and look after those students whom weren’t invited.

Year 9 and 10 Reward Day
Students in Year 9 and 10 also with good standing were treated to an excursion to Adventure World which proved to be a huge success. These events come together as always as a result of a team effort. Thanks to:
- The form teachers for collecting permission forms.
- The incredible office staff for their assistance with processing payments and other assistance.
- Staff in attendance.
- The excellent behaviour of the students - they had a great time!

Belridge Cricket Academy 2021 Review
Before I go through this years highlights I want to start by saying a very big thank you to our cricket program community, without the support of parents, school administration and staff we would not have one of the most successful specialist programs in the state. We had a few innovations this year which we intend to make even better next year which included live streaming our First XI games, incorporating our lion logo as our official cricket program logo (the Belridge Lions), our Zing flashing stumps and the inclusion of our Netball program into our awards night to highlight their achievements and successful program in its own right.
Kim Hughes State Champions Again!!!
Once again we won the WACA’s premier school cricket competition the Kim Hughes Shield making it back-to-back wins. What an amazing effort by these students all term and the final was to be dominated by our Captain, Cooper Connolly, who scored a double century in the game leading the team to victory. We will be aiming for the three-peat in 2022 and here is hoping we have another successful campaign.

Year 7 Cricket Camp
In Week 3 our Year 7 cricket students set off on their annual cricket camp for 3 full-on days of indoor cricket competing against schools in Western Australia. We left early on a Wednesday morning and started straight away at Bouncers Indoor Sports Centre in Joondalup. The competition involves 3 full days of competition with finals and play-offs.
For some students this would have been been their first experience with a different format of cricket and an opportunity to improve and enhance their cricket skills all year round. We ended the first day with our two teams winning a couple of games but improving every time we stepped on the court. After that we headed off to our accommodation at Ern Halliday to settle in and get ready for our first team dinner. Little did the students know that we had a very special guest surprise for them to join us for laser tag and then dinner which was organised by Mrs Howat. We got to laser tag and then a few moments later our special guest and Australian Cricketing star Jhye Richardson walked in! To say the students were excited was an understatement, he generously gave up his time and had lots of fun with our students, as well as answering many of their questions.
Both teams over the three days had a great time and more importantly improved their cricket skills, unfortunately we couldn’t back up last year’s performance and come away with the trophy, but the students never gave up and did their best.
Year 8 Cricket Camp Narrogin
One of the favourite camps among our students is in the small country town of Narrogin and once again the students had an amazing time filled with many great memories on and off the field. We came very close to having another student get on the 100 Club trophy with Samuel Dickerson missing out just scoring 98 on Day 1 of cricket. Patrick Oulton was close to a 5 wicket haul, just missing out with 4 wickets on Day 2. Overall all students achieved success in some way on the field. Off the field they definitely bonded and had a great time.
Year 9 Cricket Camp Rockingham/Mandurah
Our Year 9 camp was also filled with plenty of highlights on and off the field and was dominated by the King twins. Nate King scored his first ever 50 which he went on to turn into his first ever 100 while Riley played good all-around cricket with consistent runs and wickets for the 3 days. We also had a 2nd hundred for the camp with Lincoln Fieldhouse hitting a blistering 114 n.o. off 83 balls. Off the cricket field the students had a fantastic time making new friends from all other schools involved and would quite often been seen playing pool, mini golf (some students at 4am… Ryan Andrews…), hanging out or playing more cricket with their new friends.
Presentation Night 2021
On Friday the 10th of December we held our annual cricket presentation night. Once again after amazing feedback from our parents and students we were back at the home of cricket, The WACA, to give the awards night the glitz and glamour it deserves. This year we decided to join forces with our fantastic Netball program to host their awards night and to merge our successful programs as a sporting school community. Students and parents were provided with a night deserving of their stature and achievements.
And what a fabulous night it turned out to be! Students honoured the occasion by dressing smart and in their school tops and the venue provided for the perfect backdrop to hold the new look awards night. Over 300 parents and students attended the evening, with guest speakers from our WACA representative Mrs Fiona Cummings (Participation and Diversity Manager) as well as Warriors and Fury Players Bryce Jackson and Sheldyn Cooper. Jess Anstiss from the West Coast Fever also assisted in presenting our Netball Academy awards. Our MC, Mr Scott Amy, did an amazing job running the evening and our Principal Mrs Sharon Lyon opened the evening with a fantastic speech singing the praises of all, but in particular to the parents and our community. Raffle prizes were won and it wasn’t just award winners that walked away with something.
We look forward to continuing our new tradition and continue to making it even better in 2022. Thank you to all involved for making it such a special event and we look forward to doing it again next year.

Belridge Cup 2021
The Netball Academy finished the year off with the annual Belridge Cup Netball Competition, a two day carnival that sees the Year 7 to 12 Netball Academy students fight it out for the rights to be named the Best Team of the Year. The carnival saw some promising performances with the year 7A and year 8A teams challenging the older teams. A major upset was the year 8s winning against the 11/12s in the rounds. The year 11/12s then fought back in the semis to win a spot in the Grand Final. The year 10A team was bolstered with the inclusion of Declan Mensing alongside Sinead Harvey which made their backline formidable.
The grand final saw the 10A and 11/12 teams locked in a close contest from the first whistle, however the momentum changed with quick transitions through the middle for the 10s via Elli Van den Broeke, Tyra Smith and Phebe Godecke. The shooters (Raiin Lowenhoff and Kate Tobin) where also on fire, converting at an extremely efficient clip seeing the year 10s taking out a huge win.
Presentation Night
The inaugural combined Specialist Programs Award Nights was held at the WACA on the 10th of December. Parents were impressed with the combination of cricket and netball students, and it highlighted the amazing talent we have here at Belridge. The Netball Academy students were presented their awards by Jess Anstiss from the West Coast Fever who also shared some inspirational words with the students. We look forward to continuing our new tradition and continue to making it even better in 2022 and a huge thank you to all involved for making it such a special event. We look forward to doing it again next year.
Congratulations to the following award winners on the night:

Year 9 Netball Camp 2021
Student Report
On Wednesday the 17th of November the Year 9 Netball Academy girls set off on their trip to Woodman Point.
The first stop was at Ashdale Secondary College to play a netball game. Team 1 won by one point and Team 2 lost by one. We continued on to Volleyball WA, ate our home packed lunch and then completed a 2-hour volleyball lesson. We then arrived at Woodman Point Recreation Camp and settled into the Jervoise dorm. After unpacking we walked down to the beach and went for a swim to recover from our big day. On the first night one group cooked dinner (a BBQ) and the other group cleaned up - the next night we swapped roles. 0n Thursday it was a 6:30am wake up, Miss Markovic took some of the girls for a morning beach walk and the others made breakfast with Miss Howat. We then travelled to Secret Harbour to learn how to surf for 2 hours, it was so much fun. We then made our way to a park nearby (Rockingham Foreshore) to have lunch. At 1.30pm we went to Murdoch University in Rockingham to teach students from a Montessori school to play netball. That night we went back to the camp site and played some group games and had Tacos and Nachos for dinner. On the last day at our camp we woke up and cleaned up our dorms and packed all our bags into the bus. We then set off to Harrisdale High School and played a round robin competition against other netball schools (Atwell, Darling Range and Harrisdale). Team 1 made it to the grand final, but unfortunately the exhaustion from camp gave Harrisdale the upper hand who won the day. Overall, it was a good camp.

Year 9/10 Boys Rugby League
Belridge entered its inaugural Rugby League Team in the NRLWA Rugby League carnival at Charles Riley Reserve in North Beach in Term 4. This was the culmination of years of hard work by our students as previous attempts to enter a team for interschool competitions were thwarted by lack of competition, facilities, and more recently COVID restrictions. When NRLWA announced their interschool competition for 2021, we began training a month in advance. The boys, a mix of Year 9 and 10s, showed great dedication and organisation by giving up their own time after school to train hard and prepare for some tough competition.
The day of the carnival came and there was a lot of excitement amongst the group at finally having the opportunity to compete against some quality competition from the northern regions of Perth. Our first game set the tone for the day as we stormed to a dominant win against Sports Specialists Darling Range 24-0. Our second game against Ellenbrook, who proved to be the team to beat on the day, was a close-fought loss against a team who looked more like a men's A-grade side than a team of Year 10s. Our third game against Joseph Banks saw us back on the winners sheet with another big win. Game 4 was against a talented Carine outfit that saw us pushed hard, but the skills of our boys were too good and we pulled off a narrow win. Our final group game saw us face Yanchep in a must-win game to advance to the grand final. The boys started the game with a bang by scoring from the first play of the game and they never looked back, storming into the grand final. Unfortunately we went down to Ellenbrook once again in a hard-fought and valiant grand final loss to the best team on the day.
I was super proud of the boys for their effort and sportsmanship throughout the carnival. The event organiser and referees commented on how impressed they were with Belridge's conduct, both on and off the field, and how although we weren't the most talented team, we were the best drilled and most organised team of the day. Each player tried their best and despite numerous injuries throughout the day, our boys were resilient and worked hard for each other when we were down to no substitutes after 6 tough games. I'm looking forward to entering many more teams in the coming years with the talent we have here at Belridge. Well done boys!

The Belridge battering ram, relentless in his hit-ups and tackling from start to finish.
Hudson Duncan
A solid performer with some highlight reel runs and a huge pressure try in our grand final qualifier.
Deyne Fuimaono
Made tacklers look silly with his explosive runs and one of the best steps you'll see from a forward.
Fraser Masterton
Assistant coach of the year, inspirational from the sidelines and ran water like a man possessed.
Declan Mensing
His field kicking was a highlight and set up numerous highlight-reel tries.
Lucas Moyle
Solid running and tackling all day and scored some important tries.
Will Orr
Another first-time player but played a pivotal support role when we were hit hard by injuries.
Riley Pearce
Fearless in his tackling, often taking down players twice his size and made some great runs.
Hudson Sanders
Our chief playmaker, just could not be tackled and broke the line consistently to score or set up countless tries.
Harm Slater
Ran hard all day, was deadly with the ball in his hands and made numerous try-saving tackles.
Charley Sullivan
Our prized winger, stopped the biggest player on the day one-on -one and was lightning down the sidelines.
Jarrad Timu
Health & Physical Education Teacher
Janis Zorn has been working as part of the Admin Team in the front office for the last 12 years assisting in holding the fort! Sadly for her colleagues and friends in the front office and across the school, Janis has decided it is now time to throw in the towel and expand into the world of retirement and we could not be happier for her.
Janis came to Belridge SC from her former job in Tourism (which proved useful for when staff needed advice in planning their holidays!).
Already a social butterfly and active lady, we know that Janis will be busier than ever with her beloved dog, Luca, and keeping up with her many active hobbies - you may see her cycling past with her bike club!
Janis, we will miss you deeply but wish you a very well deserved retirement. May it be long, healthy and happy going forward into your next chapter.
Farewell to Mrs Gendle
We wish to congratulate Mrs Leanne Gendle on her forthcoming retirement. Leanne joined our school in 1993 and has made an enormous contribution not only to the education of young adults, but also to the staff association.
Leanne commenced her 28 years here in the time where we used typewriters rather than computers and has witnessed the growth of technology in our school.
Leanne’s skilled and accurate typing continues to impress us all as she still consistently hits over 80 words per minute! Leanne taught Senior School Accounting at Belridge and frequently topped the State league tables with her student results. She has continued to develop the Business courses here at our school, introducing the Certificate (Cert I & Cert II) courses in Business. Leanne continued to seek out opportunities for her students to excel and place themselves well for the world of work, initiating our participation in the “Interview to Impress” workshops run by ABCN (Australian Business and Community Network). Many of our former students have credited Leanne and the “Interview to Impress” program with their success in acquiring jobs after school.
In her time at Belridge, Leanne has given over two decades of service to the staff in her executive work for the Staff Association, most notably as secretary and more recently as events co-ordinator. Leanne will be very much missed by staff and students alike. We thank her for her contribution to our school and wish her well in her retirement.
