What a term so far! Belridge SC has been a hive of activity over the last few weeks with so many special events and activities taking place.
A key announcement that was delivered on site by both the Minister for Education and the Minister for Energy and Mining was that Belridge SC has been chosen as one of the 10 schools to have a Virtual Power Plant and Solar Panel system installed as part of the governments 'Road to Recovery' plan. Not only will this mean great savings for the school in terms of energy bills, it will also allow our students to be involved in real life data science, collecting and comparing live data from our school and local community. This is such a great initiative, and we can’t wait for the installation at the end of the year and to see our students involved in real life STEM learning projects here at the college.
Course selections are well underway and the school is working hard to get students into their preferred choices. Year 7 enrolments for 2021 are coming in thick and fast, please submit your enrolments asap if you are planning to enrol your child at the college for next year.
During Week 7 we sought feedback from our parent and staff community via the National School Opinion Survey platform. This is a bi-annual event that helps inform the college of our progress and highlight areas for development. Initial findings look very pleasing with huge progress in the areas of behaviour and student support. Thank you to parents and staff for completing the survey and helping us improve our practice and planning for the future.
In a mammoth term of events I would like to acknowledge some of the highlights. We have celebrated Science Week with a week long program of lunchtime activities, International Literacy Day, EA Appreciation Week - with a lovely morning tea - Numeracy Week activities, Wear It Purple Day, RU OK? Day, along with a 3-week Food Hall event from our Hospitality students as part of their accreditation. A massive thank you to all the staff and students who gave up their time to plan and support these events. These events make a massive difference to the education and support of our young people and bring such life to the college.
Term 3 has been a busy time for our sporting teams. With many events rescheduled from Term 1 and 2 due to COVID, we have had a bumper term of sport. The return of our Outdoor Ed Camp, described as the “Best Camp Ever!”, Champion school’s volleyball competition, Girls Jnr footy interschool competition and our own Belridge SC and Education Support Athletics Carnival. The carnival was such a pleasure to be a part of, with huge participation from across both schools. The levels of support and inclusion seen from our students was a sight to behold and very heart warming. A huge thank you to Mr Bennett and the Phys Ed team for all of their efforts and hard work in this area. Our success in Netball continues with outstanding achievement in the High School Cup and Multicultural Carnival. Our Year 7 team finishing 4th in the state and our Year 10’s crowned state champions in their age division.
In the Arts, we saw a wonderful Music Concert with performances from all of our Music students across Years 7-12. A big thank you to Mr Offszanka and IMSS teachers for their hard work and support of these students over the year. Another success in The Arts saw 3 of our Fashion Design students reach state finalist places in the Wool4School 2020 national competition.
With the Year 12 year coming to a close very soon, this can be a very stressful time for them. The college is trying to support them as best as we can, both academically and emotionally and look forward to celebrating this important milestone with our students and families.
Thank you for your continued support.

August and September Board Report
Hello BSC community, just to keep us all on our toes I have reverted back to the written report for this edition.
Starting off with our Open Board Meeting, help in early August. It was again a great night and thanks to all who attended and made the evening possible. There is a continuing trend of parents and Board Members of our Partner Primary Schools attending so that they can gain a working insight into the functioning of our school. To assist in them getting a deeper understanding off what we offer and what we are about at BSC, we provide 5 minute vignettes of different components of our school that are ‘extra curricular’ or community oriented to compliment the academic component of the school – which is always addressed by our Principal. Numbers are growing year by year and it’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with our broader community.
A further opportunity to showcase the school was with the announcement of BSC as being one of the 10 pilot schools involved in the VPP network. VPP, or Virtual Power Plant, is a scheme initiated by Synergy to have schools generate more of their own energy and thus reduce power bills. I’m sure there were a number of financial and environmental factors that played into us being selected, but I would also like to add that BSC is involved in a number of pilot projects with the Education Department and our reputation for innovation and reliability is a very strong one, which often sees BSC having opportunities not available to the wider sector.
Are you interested in becoming a Parent Community Member?
Closing on opportunities, there is an opportunity for one of our schools’ parents to fill a vacant position on our School Board. The position is available till May 2021, whereby it becomes an elected process again. If you would like to have strong input into the direction the school takes and how it gets there and would like to fill a position on the board please feel free to contact me via email at
belridge.sc.schoolboard@education.wa.edu.au
and I would be happy to discuss this opportunity with you. Enjoy the upcoming holidays, and good fortune to all the Year 12 ATAR students preparing for their exams.

Immunisations
The final vaccination for Year 7 students will be held at the college on Thursday 17 September. Students will receive their 2nd Gardasil 9 (HPV- Human Papillomavirus) vaccination.
No catch-up sessions are scheduled, so students absent on the day will need to be vaccinated by their local general practitioner or contact the City of Joondalup Immunisation Clinic on 9400 4938 or 9400 4954.
Enrolments 2021
Belridge SC is currently taking Year 7 enrolments for 2021. Enrolment packages have been distributed all to our partner primary schools. Enrolment packages are also available from reception. We require enrolment applications returned as soon as possible to allow sufficient planning time for 2021. Returned enrolment applications should also contain all necessary documentation. This includes a copy of the full birth certificate, two proofs of address (current rates notice or current lease agreement and a utilities bill or drivers licence), immunisation records and any applicable Family Court Orders. Should you have any concerns on the enrolment process please contact reception on 9408 8000.
Year 9 Electives 2021
Year 8 students have submitted their Year 9 (2021) Elective preferences. Mr Strickland is developing an elective grid to best accommodate student preferences. This should be finalised by early Term 4.
School sickness procedures
I reminded parents/caregivers in the previous newsletter of the school protocols should a child fall ill during the day. During the class time, the class teacher will make an assessment and send the child to the nurse or Student Services. If the child feels ill during a break time they are to make their own way to the nurse or Student Services. The school will then contact the parent/caregiver if required. Students are not to contact their parents/caregivers directly to be picked up because they are not feeling well.

Year 12
It has been an unusal and different year. At times COVID has provided extra stress and uncertainty for our students, but WA has been a lot better off than other states. Now, Year 12 students need to put that behind them and be on track. It is an important time for all Year 12 students to make sure they get the best result from their 12 years of schooling. Students doing ATAR courses should be busy preparing for both their mock and final WACE exams.
A reminder that the mock exams are held on the last day of term for English and Literature, followed by the remainder of exams being in the second week of the school holidays. If students miss an exam due to illness, they must have a medical certificate. If no medical certificate is presented they will be awarded a zero for their exam as per the SCSA policy.
ATAR students were recently given excerpts from the SCSA Year 12 Information Handbook with study hints and exam tips. ‘Smart Study’ is important at this time of year. Doing a little often is better than trying to cram in a lot at the end. All students need to make sure they are getting all their assessment tasks in on time. ATAR students need good school marks, as these count for 50% of their final result. Students intending to go onto training need the best possible grades to be competitive and to ensure they achieve their WACE.
Finally, all Year 12 ATAR students were given a booklet ‘2020 TISC Guide’. As well as containing important hints and valuable websites, it highlighted the dates for opening and closing of applications for university next year. Students need to pay attention to these dates as there are expensive fees for late applications.
Parents are very important supports at this time of year.
Students need to keep up good eating habits, have less electronic distractions and have a warm, quiet place of study. Of course, there is light at the end of the tunnel and family life will return to normal soon.
Year 11 Students
It is important that Year 11 students keep up to date with their work and get all assessments in on time.
As a rule of thumb, to keep on track to achieve a WACE, students need at least 8 C’s by the end of Year 11, or a minimum of 6 C’s if they are on track to complete a Certificate II. Please note, students behind in their certificates or late with assessments are required to stay back with me Period 5 on Wednesdays to catch-up. I cannot stress enough for students to attend regularly. There is a strong relationship between poor results and attendance less than 90%.
I wish all parents and students the best of luck.

Science Week 2020
Week 5 of Term 3 saw Science Week decend on Belridge with the theme of “The Deep Blue”.
On Monday teams of students volunteered their lunch to try and build an oil rig tower out of toothpick and jubes. Their towers were judged on height and the weight they could support. It soon became apparent how important triangles are in tower construction as some towers began to twist and shear! The towers were tested Tuesday recess and a clear winner was evident as it failed at 900 grams of weight.
On Tuesday students volunteered their lunch to view a short documentary on plastic waste in our oceans. Did you know that sea birds can contain up to 15% of their body weight as plastic in their bodies? That’s like a 42.5 kg student carrying an extra 7.5 kg of plastic in their gut!! After viewing students participated in a plastic collection and amassed an entire kilogram of plastic in just a 7-minute search around the school yard.
On Wednesday students experimented with the Quiver app which allows students to transform their 2D pictures into 3D images on an iPad.
On Thursday students had the opportunity to go fishing in the library and catch a bucket load of fish. Students discovered the rarity of certain fish species, as well as the things that can harm our fishing experience.
A week long colouring competition has been open to all Year groups during Science Week. Some budding artists had the opportunity to share their gifts with the rest of the school.
Congratulations to all those students whom participated in the events. Well done to those whom achieved highly in the competitions. A big thank you to all of the staff whom ran and supervised the events.

AQWA Marine Biologist Presentation
'Without Wonder, there is no wisdom'
To celebrate the 2020 National Science Week theme ‘Deep Blue’, Belridge SC hosted many exciting events to engage students. One of these events was a visit on the 3rd September, by AQWA marine biologist Sasha Thompson.
Students were given an opportunity to discover how to become a marine biologist, and Sasha provided many personal insights to the marine world. For example, did you know that male humpback whales from the Western Australian coast produce whale songs so popular they quickly spread to the Eastern Coast of Australia, and then to the rest of the world?
Sasha answered many questions that students raised, and the best question chosen by the marine biologist won a family voucher to visit AQWA.
Bree Johnstone (Year 9) was the winner, asking the question “If we don’t see oxygen, can fish see water?”
Students responses to Sasha’s AQWA presentation included:
“Having this opportunity was absolutely amazing. I learned lots of new things and I'm beginning to understand the world more. Being a marine biologist must be an amazing job, and I would love to attend one of those talks again. The lady was really nice too”! Ruby Markostamos (Year 8)
“It was really interesting to learn all about the new innovations that we are getting from marine life, for example the shark denticles design in swimsuits, boat rudders and water pipes. I was really amazed when I learned about the rainbow mantis shrimp and that they can see different wavelengths and many more colours compared to us”. Will Orr (Year 8)
“The talk was amazing and informative. It changed my whole perspective on the Deep Blue and how every species has evolved to become the most efficient they can. For example, the sharks skin being perfectly designed for swimming and how the mantis shrimp’s claws can produce a powerful punch”. Tristin du Toit (Year 8)
“I learnt that some fish produce a gooey substance that they feed to their children and also use it to make a bubble that they can sleep in. The marine biologist had a lot to say and provided heaps of facts about the ocean and the creatures who live in it. She also answered many questions that the students had”. Sophie Manville (Year 10)
“The experience was interesting. I learnt that a prawn can hit at high velocity and fish can drown”. Nathan Pugh (Year 10)
“She was very informative, very nice and I can’t stop thinking about the shark skin suits”. Zoe Condon (Year 10)
“She spoke very passionately about ocean life and answered some of our questions. Lots of information was shared and students that enjoy or take interest in biology would enjoy listening and learning from her". Tanika Smith (Year 10)
“I learnt so many cool facts and new knowledge” Jorja Huntley (Year 10)
“The experience was interesting and engaging, and I learnt some fish eat their own slime” (Year 10 student)
“I learnt how incredible marine life truly is. That even the most “pointless” creatures still have a vital role in the ecosystem”. Kyle Pearce (Year 10)
“I enjoyed the presentation and the plethora of aquatic knowledge attained from it. The marine biologist expertly and thoroughly conveyed information about oceanic research and issues, giving myself and the audience an accessible experience". James Lun (Year 10)
“I found it to be a great experience to get away from normal science classes for a while and see something new. It was great to learn new things I haven’t learnt before and see a unique career choice. It was very interesting to learn about creatures I didn’t even know existed”. Joseph Warnes (Year 9)
“I really liked when our presenter was talking about how whales in different locations sing different songs, I found that very interesting”. Jack Harrex (Year 9)
I found it really interesting that sharks can sense things really well. I was amazed that sharks would be able to tell the difference between 18 and 18.001 oC”. Riley Gillespie (Year 9)

Where does our food come from?
Food Security is the physical and economic access to food across the globe and the Year 9’s have enjoyed learning about biomes and food as a part of the Geography curriculum. We bought in a range of food items and tried to guess where they came from. For most of them, we were way off and investigating why these foods are packaged in different places was super interesting. We then mapped the food items and found patterns around where our food is grown and where it is sent to be packaged. Our foods came from India, Australia, Poland, and New Zealand but some were packaged in Switzerland, Thailand, Indonesia and China.

The Arts
Students designing their future ...
Mrs Hales’ Visual Arts students recently had the pleasure of former student Dean Cinquini returning to his high school to talk about a career in graphic design. Dean graduated from Belridge in 2005. Areas discussed ranged from pathways of an art student to practicing artist, from concept to finished product, submitting portfolios and strategies for promoting artwork.
Thank you Dean for taking the time to come and share your experiences and provide students with a look into the world of graphic design. Your guidance and time were very much appreciated.

Fashion Design
The Arts learning area is delighted to announce that 3 Belridge Fashion Design students gained STATE FINALIST places in this year’s Wool4School 2020 student design competition run by The Woolmark Company. Congratulations to the following students on your fantastic achievement in this national competition.
Shae Kavanagh (Year 7)
Jade Lardis (Year 8)
Assie Brightman (Year 8)
This year’s criteria challenged students ‘to design a garment or outfit inspired by flora and fauna and incorporating fibres which are gentle on the earth’. The design of the garment also had to incorporate a minimum of 70% wool.
All students who participated in this competition are to be commended on their hard work and quality of their designs.

Design & Technology
Education Support students recently had the opportunity to work with recycled timber and create Jarrah chopping boards, which were designed and made for the ESC market day in late 2020.
The Year 8 students spent the last seven weeks working on these boards, which requirement involves skills using industry machinery such as electric hand sanders. All students checked a successful outcome by contributing to the whole school community by giving back and showing off their craftsmanship skills in Design and Technology.
The Design & Technology department encourages all students to use recycled material and accentuate the importance of recycling timber. We use a vegetable base oil to stain the timber which also makes it safe for serving / cutting food on the board.
We encourage the local community to get in touch with the Design & Technology department if they have any left over timber such as old Jarrah pergolas or construction pine they are willing to donate to help support our students in creating their projects thoughout the year and to give back to the local community.

STEM Data Science with Dr Liz Dallimore
Students from Belridge Secondary College were recently provided with a unique opportunity to participate in the first Transformers: WA STEM Careers Forum. Leading the way in WA is Dr Liz Dallimore, Director WA Science Innovation Hub who discussed the endless career options available to students who are data literate. From Loreal to Nike, Toyota to Netflix, data science is in high demand and throughout the world is deemed the “career of the century”. With extremely high salaries, a broad range of industries, innovation and diverse geographic locations available; why not study Data Science?!
Dr Dallimore discussed case studies where data science is used including behaviour of fires in the recent bushfire events and how data influenced the action plan, sporting clubs (particularly AFL), health and sustainability, data science is used everywhere.
Most companies employing data scientists require Python Coding which is learned in the Bachelor Degree of the university course, but our students at Belridge Secondary College have a head start as many are already learning this language within both the Technologies Learning Area and in the Academic Enrichment Program.
We are certainly preparing our students to be future ready!

Unfortunately the Annual Chaplain’s Dinner was cancelled this year due to COVID, leaving our Year 11 & 12 Hospitality Students needing an alternative event to test their skills and be assessed by an external assessor, as part of their certificate course.
Students have been working on their sandwich unit, which also required them to practice their customer service skills. A food hall was devised enabling students to run a food hall style lunch service over several dates, where they prepared and served a variety of sandwich styles and hot & cold drinks for staff, which proved very popular!
The food hall also provided an opportunity for Year 12 students to be formally observed and assessed on their hospitality skills by our Registered Training Organisation, HGT (Hospitality Group Training). The feedback received from the assessors was glowing! Assessors were also extremely impressed by students' service and interactions with their customers.
Well done to all students involved and on a job well done!

Wear It Purple Day
Wear It Purple Day was held on Friday 28 August to raise awareness and promote inclusivity in relation to the LGBT+ community. Many of our staff and students showed their support by wearing purple, and participating in activities such as a celebrity quiz, a lolly jar challenge, face painting and a pop-up photo booth. Our school radiated positivity as we celebrated diversity, and recognised the importance of developing tolerance and respect for others. Thank you to all the staff and students - especially the Student Councillors - who embraced and promoted the Wear It Purple Day message - that "Everyone has the right to feel proud of who they are".

RU OK? Day 2020
R U OK? Day (Thursday 10 September) is the national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that every day is the day to ask, “Are you OK?” and support those struggling with life's ups and downs.
All students at Belridge engaged R U OK? themed activities that built on and developed their communication skills and teamwork. Students in each year group had to work together to form a letter of the R U OK? slogan as well as work in partners or teams to complete four different tasks that were run by Belridge Secondary College’s wonderful student councillors. Students played tug-o-war, mind field, R U OK articulate and wrote affirmation message; which will be used later when people need to hear them. The purpose of these activities was to raise awareness of the importance of communication with our friends, family, peers and staff at the College.
The message our students took away from the day is to "Remember; you're never too young to look out for one another and ask R U OK? When you ask the question, you're not expected to fix their problems or know the best way to help and support. But you can listen to what they're saying and tell a teacher or trusted adult if you are worried about someone".

Thursday was the COLOURING IN in in the library – a combination of numeracy (calculating to do colour by number) and mindfulness (colouring is a relaxing pastime). Students took their art work home with them, and some are also being prepared for display.
Many thanks to our hard working Lead Team: Numeracy consisting of:
Mr Blakeney (Science), Ms Collins (Phys Ed), Mr Davies (Maths),
Ms Dimitroff (Maths), Dr Lambert (English) and Ms Wilkes (Home Ec)
Thanks also to all the students who joined in the activities over the week, and your form teachers who played the kahoot with you in form time and recorded the results for us.
And finally, a special thanks to our daily PA announcer, Mr Notarpietro.

Inter-House Athletics Carnival 2020
The 2020 Inter-House Athletics Carnival was held on Friday 4 September. With the unrest around COVID, the carnival was a great day for all students to relax, mingle and participate in a whole school carnival. The signs were there early that it was always going to be an awesome day, with the weather being absolutely beautiful with warm and still conditions.
The carnival ran smoothly and with minimal issues, which is testament to the many, many people who helped in the weeks leading up to this annual big event. Thank you to all staff who were involved in any way, shape or form, in the organisation and running of the Athletics Carnival.
Students conducted themselves amazingly, and it was a great experience to witness so many keen and enthusiastic competitors trying their best and having fun. The participation numbers escalated this year with students getting involved in all events. In fact, the participation was so great that presentations needed to be completed the following Monday.

Year 12 Outdoor Recreation - Best Camp Ever!
On Wednesday 26 August, 23 keen Year 12’s headed off on their last big adventure of their high school years.
We arrived in Dwellingup, unloaded the bus and got our 'packs on', with everything needed for the venture, the group set a cracking pace on the 13km hike through the Dwellingup Forrest. The views over the valley were amazing.
There were a couple of sections that just added to the adventure with a steep scramble down a gravel hill slipping and sliding all over and a hill that felt like it would never end. We made it and set up camp then settled in to eat, light fires, roast marshmallows and play spotlight.
Day 2 was full of fun. The weather was just amazing to be on the Murray River canoeing, navigating the twist and turns and a few rapid sections, was so enjoyable. The rapids were new to us, so to stay upright was a challenge which most of us succeeded in doing, some however felt the icy chill of the water.
Whilst one group was canoeing the other group put their navigation skills to practice. The competitive side came out of some with record finishing times. The day was so nice we decided to make the most of the weather and went to Baden Powel campground. This is a swimming area with rocks to climb over and rapids to explore. Most of us were brave enough to jump in the icy water and then warm up in the sunshine on the rocks.
Day 3 was so much fun in the trees at Lane Poole Trees Adventure Park. A day to challenge ourselves. The park is a high rope adventure course in the trees, with obstacles, zip lines and free falls. Even those who didn’t love heights had a great time.
What a camp, what a group! These students stepped up, chatted to everyone, worked well together and were excellent at everything. Thank you for a great few days.

High School Cup 2020 - Elimination Finals
1st Round Report
On Friday 21 August, Belridge Secondary College’s Netball Academy students travelled to Perth Netball Association to participate in their biggest Netball competition for the year. This is the High School Cup Day Carnival. Over 100 students from Belridge attended the carnival and they all represented Belridge amazingly.
Belridge had 10 teams participate in the carnival this year from Year 7 through to Year 12. All teams played roughly 5 games over the day and the results from this day will affect teams progressing in the competition. The Year 7’s are the youngest age in the Lower Division and this was their first year competing in the carnival. They performed extremely well with the top team winning 4 of the 5 games for the day. The second Year 7 team had a mix of wins and losses. Given they were playing against some Year 8’s, this was a great result for their first carnival.
The top Year 8 team won all of their games and are straight through to the elimination carnival next week. The second Year 8 team also had a few wins and a few losses throughout the day. Both Year 9 teams had mixed results of wins and losses. We will need to wait on results to learn if any progress through to the elimination carnival.
Our Year 10 team 1 won all of their games and will automatically progress through to the elimination carnival next week. The second year 10 team had both wins and losses in their games and will also need to wait on results of other games to see if they progress further.
The Year 11/12 teams also both had wins and losses over their 5 games. From here, the teams that finish either first or second in their zone will automatically progress to the elimination day carnival to be held Fremantle next Thursday.
We are hoping to have as many teams through to the elimination carnival as possible. At this point in time, it looks like we will have the following teams through:
7.1, 8.1, 8.2, 9.1 and 10.1
This is a wonderful result for our Netball Academy students and we are very proud of all the teams and wish those continuing through into the next round all the best.

Netball Coordinator

High School Cup 2020 - Elimination Finals
2nd Round Report
On Thursday 27 August the Belridge Netball Academy had six teams competing in the next round in the School Sport WA Secondary Schools Champion Netball Competition at Fremantle Netball Association.
We also had our inaugural boys’ team competing in the School Sport WA Boys Netball Competition, as well as five of our Netball Academy teams competing in the Elimination Finals Competition.
Our Boys Team started off their day in close battle against Melville SHS. They managed to come away with the win, beating Melville by one goal. The boys finished their day with 2 wins and 2 losses which was a fantastic achievement.
The Netball Academy Year 10 Team and Year 7 Team started their day off with comfortable wins against Aveley and Melville respectively. At the conclusion of the primary rounds, the Year 10 Team finished 1st in their zone, the Year 9 Team finished 4th, the Year 7 team and one of the Year 8 teams finished 2nd and the other Year 8 team finished 4th in their zones as they headed into the first cross-over matches of the day.
All Belridge teams fought hard, with the Year 10 Team, Year 7 Team and one of the Year 8Teams progressing to the second cross-over match of the day. The Year 10s had a very close game against Warwick in their second cross-over match for the day and came away with a 1 goal win to progress into the quarter finals match. The Year 7s also had a very close game against Atwell that saw them go into over-time, where they eventually got up and won the game by 2 goals to progress into the quarter finals match also.
Both the Year 10 and Year 7 Teams proved too strong for their opposition and won their quarter final matches to progress through to the Finals Day later this term. This is a fantastic achievement, as this means both of these Belridge teams are one of the top four teams in the state in their divisions.
It was fantastic to see such great teamwork and sportsmanship across all the Belridge teams throughout the day. All students participated to the best of their ability and should be commended on the performances they put out on court throughout the day and over the entire Secondary Schools Champion Netball Competition. A special thanks to Zjana Herangi, Ava Martin, Abbey Boliver, Mahalia Woolterton and Jordan Blee (Year 12 studentS) who assisted throughout the day as umpires.

Champion Schools Volleyball Competition
On Friday 28 August, Belridge Secondary College participated in the Champion Schools Volleyball Competition held at the Warwick Stadium. Two senior boys’ teams and two senior girls’ teams represented the College. This carnival was the first time in Belridge’s history that we had both our top teams competing in the top division. See below results:

Girls Junior Footy Interschool Competition
After a delayed start to the year, the Junior Girl's footy competition got underway in Week 5 of Term 3. Belridge girls from Years 7 to 9 joined the highly competitive Northern B Division which saw us face AFL specialist schools Mater Dei and Irene McCormack in the first two rounds. The girls played their hearts out and showed a lot of spirit and resilience in two very tough games. Although the results didn't go our way, spirits remained high and the girls showed fantastic teamwork.
Our final game of the competition was against Churchlands. With a student body of nearly 3000 students, we knew they would have a very competitive team. Despite trying conditions our girls displayed fantastic wet weather skills in a dominant display, winning 37 to 13. It was great to see the improvement from all the girls, both in training and across the three games, particularly those who had never played AFL before. It was also fantastic to see the more experienced girls providing guidance and support to their teammates. The future of girls footy at Belridge is very bright indeed.

Belridge recently entered its inaugural teams in the Eastern Metro Health Service Youth Innovation Think Tank at Royal Perth Hospital. Eight Schools and over 100 students attended. It is a day dedicated to students working alongside health professionals and peers to investigate and create solutions for community health. The Belridge teams were tasked with addressing language barriers faced by those who require medical assistance via digital means during isolation and COVID-19 restrictions. Both teams performed wonderfully and presented some fantastic ideas.

Education Assistant Appreciation Week
Week 7 of Term 3 was Education Assistant Appreciation Week and as such Belridge acknowledged our wonderfully supportive Education Assistants; Audra Keeble, Angela Zurzolo, Bibi Kent, Belinda Noakes, Kaylene Campbell, Mansi Kumar, Sue Deane and Vicki Stasinowsky.
Our Education Assistants are passionate, hard working, incredibly supportive and professional members of our staff. Belridge Beats DJ Classes
The Belridge Beats DJ classes held after school have continued through Term 3 with students gaining plenty of practice using and setting up professional equipment.
Recently the class had a special guest presenter. Sam Fletch (AKA DJ Samantics) who is a popular DJ in the Perth Drum & Bass music scene and regularly DJs at a variety of successful events. Sam visited a class and shared her experience with students, as she helped them polish their mixing skills and answered their questions about DJing. The students appreciated the chance to learn more about Drum & Bass and other music genres and even left with Concrete Junglist stickers. We appreciate Sam sharing her time and expertise with the class.

Uniform Supplies
We wish to update you on the current position regarding the supply of uniforms to our school.
Due to the location of where uniforms are produced and the impact of extended lockdowns due to COVID 19, the uniform shop has been experiencing shipping delays due to reduced operational productivity of worldwide ports and the availability of containers.
If there are any unforeseen delays that may affect stock holding for the 'back to school' selling period, the uniform shop may find it necessary to ration or restrict the number of items initially supplied in some products. This measure is to ensure that uniforms are available to all students until further stocks arrive.
We have been assured that the uniform suppliers are closely monitoring production and deliveries and are confident that uniforms will be available for the new school year.
Should the position change, we will notify you as soon as we are made aware.
