Associate Principal - VET & OLNA News

Do you (or will you) need a young employee?

Belridge Graduates available soon!

As the school year nears an end for our year 12 students, and ATAR students prepare for the WACE Exams in November, some of our VET pathway students will be hoping to enter the workforce at a unique and difficult time, many businesses traditionally employing young people in industries like retail, tourism and hospitality have been impacted by COVID, resulting in the current youth unemployment rate of 20%+.

At times, the best way to get a start in a job is by word of mouth, or by knowing someone looking to employ a trainee or apprentice, or entry level worker. Most graduates are, or will soon be 18 years of age, with driver’s licences and some experience in voluntary, unpaid and part time jobs.

We have many graduating students with excellent literacy, numeracy and ICT skills, who will have recently completed a WA Certificate of Education (in December),

Some of our students have focused their vocational and industry knowledge in many fields and occupations, having completed AQF Certificate II, II and IV qualifications:

  • Automotive technology (AUR20716 – Certificate II)
  • Business (BSB20015) - Certificate II)
  • Building and Construction (CPC20211) - Certificate II)
  • Community Services (CHC22015)- Certificate II)
  • Electrical services (UEE22011) - Certificate II)
  • Engineering (MEM20413- Certificate II)
  • Events (SIT30516) - Certificate III)
  • Health Science (HLT33215) - Certificate III)
  • Population Health (HLT36015) - Certificate III)
  • Hospitality (SIT20316) - Certificate II)
  • Information & Communication Technologies (ICT30118) - Certificate III)
  • Outdoor Recreation (SIS20213) - Certificate II)
  • Sport & Recreation (SIS30115) - Certificate II)

Any of our newsletter readers who may be able to (or know someone who may) offer one of our graduates a job in any industry area are welcome to phone the school on 9408 8000 or email belridge.sc@education.wa.edu.au
