Virtual Babies
Many of us recall that bringing home a new baby can be a wonderful, but also challenging, time. A new baby heralds a major lifestyle change as the baby’s needs take priority. The Virtual Babies are designed to also be very demanding, with unpredictable waking, feeding and sleeping patterns. Caring for the Virtual Baby gives students a taste of this reality. Year 11 and Year 12 students studying Certificate II in Community Services, take turns in caring for one of our three Virtual Babies, taking them to classes and home for one or two nights. The students then reflect on the experience and soon come to the realisation that they are not ready for such a huge responsibility and just enjoy their sleep too much!
