Hey everyone! I’m Jake and I’m the Youth Worker at Belridge Secondary College. What makes this role extra special to me is that I used to walk these very same halls as a student - not always on my best behaviour, but always full of potential (even if I didn’t know it at the time).

Back then, a Chaplain/Youth Worker at this school took the time to believe in me. He helped me see that I was capable of more than I gave myself credit for that if I set my mind to something, I could achieve it. That support changed my life; it’s a part of the reason I have two degrees (something I never imagined possible) and it is exactly why I am here today.

My goal is simple: to be that same encouraging presence and warmth for today’s students. Whether you’re flying high or figuring things out, I want you to know you’re not alone and that your future is full of possibility.

I engage with students both one-on-one at school clubs and in larger group-based settings. If you have concerns about your child or feel they may benefit from a chat, I accept self-referrals from parents, students and teachers.

As a Youth Worker contracted through Anglicare WA, I am provided with a wealth of resources and support from Anglicare for both students and their families. I can provide support in information for referrals to services, with services ranging from counselling, parenting support, emergency relief and family and domestic violence support.

My big picture is to engage the school as a whole, bring different people together and host a variety of events and activities that help build relationships between students and teachers. Term 2 saw a Junior League of Mario Kart being held every Tuesday and Thursday.  We are now planning to incorporate a Senior and Teacher league this term.

Whether flying high or figuring things out, I want the young people at Belridge Secondary College to know they aren't alone and that their future is full of possibility.
