Staff Retirements
Anna’s career began in 1983 at Swanbourne SHS. Down the line, Anna joined Belridge Senior High School (as it was known back then) and was part of the inaugural staff members when the school first opened its doors in 1991. As such, Anna was instrumental in developing the Art department from scratch and dedicated 34 years of shaping the minds and hearts of countless students. Anna also introduced dance classes to students and mentored gifted dancers through the WOW! Dance Troupe.
As well as her teaching, Anna’s undertook many other roles; Year Coordinator, Head of the Arts from 2011 to 2021, co-ordination of after-hours Arts Club (2006-2007) and also consulted on design of the Performing Arts building, which opened in 2021.
Coordination of the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge and taking the crown as State Champions in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, organising the Artist in Residence program with Jenny Kee and Linda Jackson, and exhibiting in the WA Museum as part of the Nick Cave project in 2009 are just a few highlights of your illustrious career.
In 2008, Anna played an integral part in writing the school’s application to run a Specialist Fashion Design program, which was approved and launched in 2009. Anna guided students to enter many state and national competitions, such as Wool4School, APEX Teenage Fashion Awards, ‘Make it Happen with Newspaper’, Urban Couture - always with excellent student achievements. Another highlight was her collaboration with WA Museum for students to create and exhibit works as part of the Nick Cave Project in 2009. Many students have continued on into the fashion and arts industry following Anna’s influence, for example opening own dance schools, working in fashion industry or WAAPA as costume designers.
Anna’s contributions have been vast and varied and her accolades speak volumes of dedication and talent; Runner-up for WA Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2011, West Coast Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2009, and a nomination for National Teacher of the Year in 2007 are just a few of the many recognitions you have received. Anna was also recognised in 2005 for her outstanding contribution to government schools by the Department of Education and achieved Level 3 Classroom Teacher status in 2011.
Beyond professional achievements Anna has been a valued colleague and friend to many, making a massive impact on Belridge and the broader community and her legacy and influence will be remembered fondly for years to come.

And a word from Anna...
Teacher - The Arts
The College has also been extremely lucky to have Teacher of Mathematics - Rebecca Millett - teaching at the College for an amazing 31 years and 2 months.
We wish to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to Rebecca Millett who officially retired at the end of April 2025 after an amazing 39 years and 2 months service with the Department of Education.
Rebecca always wanted to be a teacher, so much so that she used to have a blackboard at home and teach to her younger sister!
Rebecca commenced her teaching career in February 1986 at Esperance Senior High School, thereafter she moved to Lynwood Senior High School and then finally made her way to the doors at Belridge Senior High School on 27 January 1994 and didn’t look back!
As well as undertaking her role as a Teacher of Mathematics, she was involved in Lead Team Committees of Literacy, Numeracy and ASTI. Rebecca had a stint working with SCSA where she was invited to trial ‘Maths in Practice’ and ‘Maths Modelling’ teaching methods. Thereafter, Rebecca coached and passed on her knowledge of these practices to her work colleagues. Rebecca was also invited to MAWA (Mathematics Association of WA) to participate in the ‘Letterbox Project’ and from there, she was then invited to present to the Catholic Education conference.
Every year she oversaw the organisations of students participating in the National Australian Maths Competition (AMC), and taking groups of students back and forth in the day to participate in Have Sum Fun, which has since evolved into an online event. Rebecca also taught Arts and Woodwork for Belridge SC Education Support students for a short while.
As well as teaching, we are grateful to Rebecca who was heavily involved in the Staff Association organising staff events and was also part of the planning committee for Belridge Secondary College’s 30th Anniversary Celebrations back in 1991 where she made significant contributions to the event.
When asked ‘What will you miss most about working at BSC?’, Rebecca responded she will miss her colleagues in the Maths Department very much, stating that they were fun to work with. She also valued that she was treated respectfully and as a professional.
With her newfound freedom Rebecca plans to become a volunteer teacher at Ronald McDonald House, go to the gym, take up more walking, enjoy time with her dogs and tend her garden.
A few words from Rebecca...
“Teaching and Belridge SC has been a big part of my life. It has been rewarding to watch students grow over the years. The staff at the College are amazing, as they were always there to help, and they did so during some of the most difficult times in my life. Thank you to all my amazing students and staff”.
