Student Achievements

Jordan Mouritz (Year 12) and the U23 Men's National Wheelchair Squad, the Aussie Spinners, returned home at the end of November after winning GOLD in the Asia Oceania Zone (AOZ) 2025 World Championship Qualifier Tournament, which was held in Bangkok. The team won (by big margins!) all six pooling games against India, Iran, Japan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Thailand. They then convincingly beat Japan 67 to 41, in the 1 vs 2 final. Jordan performed well, starting in the final four games: highlighting his balling ability and coachability.

The squad has now qualified for the 2025 World Championships, being held in Sao Paulo, Brazil from 12 to 20 June 2025:

Jordan is actively pursuing a professional basketball career, combined with the completion of a Bachelor of Science, in the coming years. His top sporting goal is to make the 2028 Paralympic Aussie Rollers mens team and perform on the big stage in LA; and then back it up in Brisbane 2032. He aims to apply for a US College scholarship during his 2025 gap year, as they have the best wheelchair sports programs in the world. The European nations have the most advanced and lucrative professional leagues, which is also on the cards once he obtains an undergraduate qualification.
