Chaplain's Fundraising Dinner 2019
The Chaplain’s Dinner held in the school café on the 8th May 2019 was a chance for our new school Chaplain, Phil Leenman, to be involved in this hugely popular and successful annual event. The theme for this year was the Chinese Year of the Pig which was reflected throughout the night through the food, mocktails and decorations in the café.
Once again, the Year 11 and 12 Hospitality students did an outstanding job preparing and serving a fantastic 4 course meal. The night provided an opportunity for Year 12 students to be formally assessed on their hospitality skills by our Registered Training Organisation, HGT (Hospitality Group Training) and the feedback received from Sarah Baker, who was observing the students throughout the night, was glowing. She was extremely impressed by their professionalism and their interactions with their guests. While the Year 12’s were looking after the front of house, the Year 11’s were working equally tirelessly at the back of house ensuring that meals were prepared and delivered on time and doing the thankless task of washing dishes. The menu for the night included:
Hors d’oeuvres
Vegetarian Spring Rolls
Pan fried Pork Gyozas
Mocktails
Entrée
Chicken Noodle Soup
Thai Style Creamy Pumpkin Soup
Main Course
Choice of either Pulled Pork or Hoisin Chicken served with roasted broccolini, accompanied with an Asian Slaw and a Crunchy Noodle Salad and steamed rice.
Dessert
Traditional Sugee Cake
Mango Parfait
The students were again supported and helped throughout the night by the staff from Home Economics, Mrs Judith Clively, Miss Maddi Jones, Mrs Jenny Dwyer, Ms Micael Corless and Ms Cheryl. Thanks also to Mrs Gendle’s business students for their production of menus, tickets and invitations for the night and to the ladies in the front office for their coordination of ticket sales. The night was a huge success and enjoyed by everyone involved.
