Deputy Principal - Years 7, 8 and 9

ANDREW_WRIGHT_DEPUTY.jpg

On the back of an 11-week term, and a much deserved break, welcome back to Semester Two.

With a newsletter early on in the new Semester, it is an opportune time to introduce myself. I will be in the role of Deputy Principal for Years 7, 8 and 9 for this Semester. I have thoroughly enjoyed my start at the College, especially with the opportunity to meet so many families at the Parent Teacher Interviews in Week 1. It was great to see that so many families were able to attend and engage in positive conversations about academic progress. Feedback is not limited to evenings such as the Parent Teacher Interviews, and you are welcome to contact your child’s classroom teacher throughout the term.

NAPLAN Results

All Year 7 and 9 students should have now received their 2024 NAPLAN results. These results provide important information about your child’s literacy and numeracy skills and achievements at the time of the testing. Year 9 students would have brought home several documents relating to their results, including:

  • NAPLAN Individual Student Report (their results)
  • A letter explaining OLNA and prequalification
  • A brochure showing the relationship between NAPLAN Individual Student Reports and prequalification
  • Individual student current status - outlining if your child needs to complete any component of OLNA (numeracy, writing or reading)

We understand that NAPLAN and OLNA can be confusing if you are not familiar with it, but you are welcome to contact the College if you have any questions.

2025 Year 7 Enrolments

It is exciting to see the preparation of Year 6 students for their transition to high school next year. Visits to local primary schools have been occurring to speak to students about their transition and answer any questions or concerns that they may have. We look forward to welcoming students to the College in the later part of this year for orientation, and then for them commencing in 2025 full time.

If you currently have a child in Year 6 who attends a primary school in our local intake area, and you wish for them to attend Belridge Secondary College next year, please complete and submit an enrolment form as soon as possible. These can be collected from one of our local intake primary schools or our College reception.

Peer Mentoring

Current Year 9 students will soon be offered the opportunity to express interest in becoming a Peer Mentor in 2025. This leadership opportunity will involve supporting Year 7 students as they commence their high school journey, through a range of events and activities. Peer mentors will be given the opportunity to engage in activities to develop their leadership and mentoring skills.
