Deputy Principal - Years 10, 11 and 12

LOUIS CHEESEMAN DEPUTY BSDC- 2024-2.jpg

What a busy, but short, term so far. Term 2 is fast approaching and some important events occurring.

Year 12 General Course students will sit their Externally Set Tasks (EST) worth 15% of their assessment in Weeks 3 – 5 of Term 2. These EST are based on content covered in Term 1. Revising for the EST during the term break will be beneficial and set you up for success in that course.

Senior School Semester One examinations and Year 11 and 12 Workplace Learning are scheduled for mid-Term 2. All students should be using their school planners to organise their time effectively to not only have all their assessments completed on time, but also have a study timetable/schedule leading up to the Semester One Examinations. Every week, they should be adding to their notes and factsheets and continually testing themselves.

I have given all the Year 12 ATAR students some revision resources leading up to the exams. I encourage you as parents to be involved in helping foster a positive study routine at home and to motivate students when things get challenging. You are a key factor in their success.

Year 12 ATAR Students - Parent Information Session

Earlier this Term, I held a Parent Information session for parents of Year 11 ATAR students. This focussed on WACE requirements, calculating your ATAR, factors contributing to ATAR success and how parents can help.

On Wednesday, 27 March 2024 I will be holding the Year 12 Parent Information Evening for ATAR students and their parents.

Date: Wednesday, 27 March 2024
Time: 6:00pm – 6:30pm
Location: Library

Thank you to Mr Dawkins and Mrs Howard for providing our students with valuable and enriching activities during Wednesday Period 5. The Year 11 and 12 students alternate each week, when they are required to attend and this is outlined via Connect Notices each week.

Success Subsidy – Don’t Miss Out!

To assist students in achieving their highest possible ATAR score, the College has established a Success Subsidy for up to $100 for each Year 12 ATAR student. This can be used for purchasing academic and revision resources directly related to their ATAR Courses. This may include additional textbooks (not on the book list), revision seminars or study resources. Students will need to apply for reimbursement via the Subsidy form on Compass or the link below.
