Planner Use

Students have been actively completing Wellbeing activities in their student planners, topics have included Respectful Relationships, Engagement and Mindfulness, Gratitude and Goal Setting. Students who have been completing the activities have been rewarded with icy poles which has been a nice treat on these hot days!

Curiosity; the desire to learn, the confidence to explore, the tools to grow.

During our Year Assemblies in Week 4, students explored and discussed the idea of curiosity, one of the College values. Staff and students are encouraged to be curious about learning, ask questions, expand outside their comfort zones, explore new things and develop new skills.

Year 7 and 8

What a start to the year! We welcomed in 170 new Year 7 students on the first day. There were some nerves and smiles as they began their high school career. The first few days saw the Year 7's rotate through a range of activities including Library, Study and Computer information and some team building fun. They have had a positive start to the year and are settling in well.

The Year 8's have had a great start too, back into the routines and learning new content. We have handed out information and are getting excited about the C8 camp, which is occurring next term, a lot of planning is taking place and it is set to be a wonderful experience.

During their assembly, a number of students were recognised for their high academic success in Semester Two, 2023, being awarded Honour Certificates. Congratulations to those students.

Year 9 and 10

Students have had a very positive start to the year with many students already being acknowledged for their efforts with the Positive Incentive Points and receiving small incentives. During our assemblies, we celebrated the efforts of those students who achieved academic excellence in Semester Two, 2023 and encouraged everyone to strive for their best. Year 9 and 10 are some very important years, with NAPLAN and OLNA taking place as well as many opportunities for Career’s Tasters and Try a Trades etc. It is a time where we ask students to begin to be curious about their futures and what they would like to achieve.

Miss Currie has also set the Year 9 and 10 cohorts a goal of improving their overall cohort attendance ready for the next assembly. So, let’s see if we can get there!

Year 11 and 12

Year 11 and 12 students have hit the ground running, working hard in class and sitting their first round of assessments. With no time to waste in these crucial years, every class is important and every opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding contributes to their WACE attainment. ATAR revision sessions, OLNA support sessions, and the Senior School Enrichment Program are running every Wednesday Period 5 - a must for all students.

Our honour students from last year were recognised this week during the joint Year 11 & 12 Assembly that took place on Monday, 19 February. These students deserve to be celebrated due to the commitment to upholding the schools' values and working to the best of their ability during classes. We look forward to celebrating more successes as they occur throughout the year.

House Competitions

House Form Quiz

The Interhouse competitions have begun for the year, we created some friendly competition between the Houses by kicking off the year with a House Quiz. Form classes participated in the quiz with questions on popular culture, sport, maths, science as well as word jumbles and school trivia. The Form classes with the fastest response time and the most correct answers won points for their House and prizes for themselves. Congratulations to:

7.06 (Manta-Rays) in 3rd Place

10.07 (Sharks) / 11.01 (Marlins) in 2nd Place

11.07 (Manta-Rays) in 1st Place

Last Man Standing Competition

The Last Man Standing is an elimination competition taking place during Weeks 6 and 7 during break times.

All students that participate will win points for their House and could be the inaugural winners of the competition!

See Mr Spinks if you have any questions!
