Certificate II Business
Students from the Certificate II Business course were very busy over last term and the beginning of this term designing both the Year 12 Ball tickets, as well as the stationery requirements for the Chaplain’s Dinner. This forms part of their competency assessment for “Organize Daily Work Activities” as well as utilising word processing and graphical skills.
Students were required to research the information required for these documents from the staff members involved in the event. Year 12’s commenced work on their designs for the Year 12 Ball last year in preparation for the final products to be created in 2019. They were required to adhere to the strict timelines imposed by the event organiser and plan their work schedule accordingly so that the documents were prepared in time for the event. This year, Alexis Lardis designed and created the final ball ticket. The tickets were uploaded and sold using an online platform.
Students from both Year 11 and 12 were responsible for designing the Chaplain’s Dinner stationery, which comprised the invitation, the tickets and the menu. This year’s theme was ‘The Year of the Pig’ and an Asian style menu was created by the Hospitality Students. The invitation was sent to the school community, as well as external community members. The students worked in pairs and, therefore, had to demonstrate communication and negotiation skills to create their design. Well done to Atearia Henry and Tasmin McLennan (Year 11s) whose invitation was chosen by the Home Economics Staff. Atearia and Tasmin then created the tickets and the final menu, which were used for the event. The other students created matching tickets and menus based on their own individual designs. The class also prepared the tickets by photocopying, numbering and cutting them ready to be sold at the front office.
