Principal's Message

As expected, it has been a very busy start to Term 3. With major events on the calendar most weeks - there is always something to celebrate.

At the end of last term, the College went through its external Public School Review. As part of this process, the College had to demonstrate its capabilities across a range of domains. This included Leadership, Learning Environment, Teaching & Learning, Resourcing, Relationships and Student Achievement. I am pleased to say that the College received a fantastic report with many commendations across the domains. The full report is available on schools online and our website. The report is testament to the hard work and dedication that goes on every day in making Belridge Secondary College the fantastic school it is. Although it has been a difficult 3 years we have made steady progress and overcome the many challenges we have faced. As the leader of this amazing school, I am confident that we will keep moving forward, putting our students first and ensuring we are providing the best possible education for each and every student.

During Week 5, Belridge Secondary College celebrated National Science Week. Ms Howard and Mr Crosbie put on a fantastic array of activities for our students involving a Lego Masters Challenge, aeroplane competition, Robot Wars incursion and slime competition.  On Friday, 18 August the College invited our JLC Primary Schools to compete in our Science Challenge finals. On the day over 20 teams represented their schools in battling it out for the top prize. Due to the high quality of students' entries, the judging was very tough and picking winners was very difficult. The top spot is still being calculated, but it is going to be a close battle between Edgewater PS and Joondalup PS for the winning shield.

This term we have also held our Year 7 Lightning Carnival and took part in the State Netball Finals. The College is delighted to announce that our Year 12 boys team came away with the State Champion title! Big congratulations to all involved and Ms Markovic and Ms Hunt for all their efforts with our Specialist Netball Program. Our Year 7 Cricket students also took part in the annual Year 7 Cricket camp, big thanks to Mr Ogilvie for organising the event.

There are also a range of whole school activities and special 'weeks' on the horizon this term. We still have Book Week, Wear-It-Purple Day, Athletics Carnival, Numeracy Week, R U OK day, concert nights, and the Year 11 River Cruise to look forward to.

Finally, the College would like to welcome and introduce our new staff who commenced with us this term Jade Cleggett - English Teacher and Ryan Lewis - Mathematics Teacher. We hope you enjoy your time here and are able to contribute to our achievements.

I look forward to sharing the rest of this bumper term with you via our social media pages; Facebook and Instagram.
