Deputy Principal - Middle School
Welcome back to Semester 2. I hope you had a wonderful break with your child/ren and enjoyed making memories with them.
After reading many of the Year 7-9 Semester 1 reports I would like to acknowledge the hard work demonstrated by students. The commitment to both academic and personal growth is commendable. I would encourage you to talk to your child to build upon these successes and learn from the challenges they faced. A growth mindset and realistic goals will empower them to have a successful Semester 2.
It was great to see so many parents take up the opportunity to talk to their child's teachers at the parent-teacher evening in Week 1. Our staff are always happy to provide updates on your child's progress and send out task mark reports following assessments. It is important that you review these at home and encourage your child to become an independent learner, develop effective study skills and seek help from their teacher when needed.
NAPLAN Results
All Year 7 and 9 students' NAPLAN results were posted home to parents in Week 1. NAPLAN results provide important information about literacy and numeracy skills that your child is learning through their school curriculum. The results complement other assessments your child does at school, providing you and your child’s teachers with an understanding of your child’s achievements at the time of the tests. From 2023, new standards were introduced to NAPLAN reporting which are:
- Exceeding
- Strong
- Developing
- Needs Additional Support
This reporting replaces the previous numerical NAPLAN reporting bands and national minimum standards. If you have any questions about your child's results, please contact the school.
2024 Year 7 Enrolments
I have spent the start of Term 3 visiting all our partner primary schools to talk to Year 6 students about the transition to high school and answer any questions they have. It was great to see the excitement they have to begin their journey at Belridge Secondary College in 2024 and we look forward to welcoming them.
If you currently have a child in Year 6, in our intake area, and would like them to attend Belridge Secondary College next year, please complete and submit an enrolment form at our reception as soon as possible. Either collect one from one of our partner primary schools or at our reception.
