Vice Principal - Senior School
The school year always starts with a bang and before we know it Term 1 is over!
Year 12 General Course students will sit their Externally Set Tasks (EST) worth 15% of their assessment in weeks 3 – 5 of Term 2. These EST are based on content covered in Term 1. Revising for the EST during the term break will be beneficial and set you up for success in that course. Please find the EST schedule printed later in this newsletter.
Senior school Semester 1 examinations and Year 11 and 12 Workplace Learning are scheduled for mid-term 2. All students should be using their school planners to organise their time effectively to not only have all their assessments completed on time, but also have a study timetable/schedule leading up to the Semester 1 Examinations. Every week, they should be adding to their notes and factsheets and continually testing themselves.
I have given all the Year 12 ATAR students a study program taking them up to the end of the holidays. It is not compulsory for them to use it, but they must be using some sort of study program. The one I gave them had some very handy hints on it. Please discuss these with your son/daughter.
Year 12 ATAR April Holiday Revision Programs
There are a number of Year 12 ATAR revision programs offered for the April school holidays. Please refer to the flyer later in the newsletter. The school is prepared to pay 50% of the course cost. Please see Mr Pisano to apply.
Year 11 & 12 ATAR Students
Thank you to Mr Mouritz (School Career Practitioner) for organising guest speakers from the tertiary institutions. A representative from ECU has already spoken to the students, with UWA planned for Week 10 of this term. Other institutions will be scheduled for Term 2. Please check Connect notifications for University Open days. An on-site visit is invaluable with the opportunity to speak with tertiary representatives one on one.
Course changes
All course changes are closed for Semester 1. Students seeking changes for Semester 2 may do so just prior to the commencement of the semester. Parental permission is required and all requests will be assessed in the best interest of the student.
