Student Services
Attendance
Student Services Staff have been targeting Attendance and Term 1 is off to a raring start. Attendance rates per cohort can be seen below.
Year Group | Attendance Rate % |
7 | 94.3% |
8 | 90.6% |
9 | 88.8% |
10 | 87.6% |
11 | 92% |
12 | 94.6% |
We will continue to encourage students’ attendance and being punctual, to maximise engagement and learning.
When a child misses school, they are missing opportunities to learn, build friendships and develop life skills.
Parents/carers and guardians will receive regular updates on Student Attendance Percentages via Compass.
Peer Support
Peer Support Program is underway!
The Peer Support Program provides a fun and engaging environment for young people to address social issues. Modules are designed to equip young people with skills to deal proactively with life experiences. The Peer Support Program promotes wellbeing, which encourages positive relationships, connectedness and a sense of responsibility.
Focus areas include:
Orientation | Resilience | Values | Anti-bullying
This operates through our Peer Leaders (Year 10 students) who facilitate structured activities with groups of Year 7 students, supervised by a teacher. These 1 hour sessions will run once a week, for the remainder of Term 1 to assist in the Year 7 students settling into their high school life.
P.I.P. (Positive Incentive Program) Points
Year Coordinators and Heads of Student Services have been acknowledging students who are displaying the school values of Respecting Others and the Space, using their school planner and wearing correct uniform by handing out PIP Tokens. These tokens are entered into a raffle which is drawn every Friday to win a prize!
All students who have received a PIP Token will also gain 1 PIP point to spend at the PIP Stalls in Week 10 of each term.
Thank you to all of the students who are continually representing Belridge Secondary College in such a positive way.
Peanut
Peanut is the school Companion Dog who is in Student Services every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
His role is to work with students who have difficulty with their mental health, a disability or perhaps are feeling a little down. He is very intuitive and loves being able to cheer people up! Therapy Dogs or Companion Dogs in schools are proven to:
- reduce stress
- promote social skills
- increase positivity
- reduce negative behaviour
- increase engagement and attendance
Peanut played a big role in the college community in 2022 and we look forward to seeing him assist our young people throughout the year.
Peanut’s adventures can be followed on Instagram @peanutofperth
OLNA
OLNA will be held in the upcoming weeks for our Year 10, 11, and 12 students who are working toward their Literacy and Numeracy qualifications. All Year 11 and 12 students sitting OLNA have been hard at work on Wednesday OLNA revision, and we are sure all of their hard work will pay off.
A reminder to all parents and carers to inform the school of any student diagnosis, as appropriate adjustments can be arranged for OLNA testing.
Year 7 Disco
