School Board Report
Let the bells peal and the celebrations go on! As you would have no doubt heard by now, the school has been successful in finally getting its substantive Principal, and Sharon Lyon, our previously Acting Principal has won the role. We have a stable leadership path going forward.
I was fortunate enough to sit on the selection panel and can happily say there was a great deal of interest from the pool of eligible principals in the role. Belridge is seen as a very good school amongst that principal cohort, one that a number would be proud to lead into the future. The Board is very pleased that Sharon has won the position on her own outstanding merit and that she can now continue to oversee the plans she put in place to ensure the growth of the school.
As always, I have little to report in way of any major issues the school needs to address, and operationally, the school is running very well.
One thing of note is the inclusive relationships BSC is developing with the primary partner schools, which are having an impact on the interest and enrolments of the school from those moving into Year 7. This coupled with some wonderful work the school is doing with one of our community partners in ECU in the middle and senior schools is meaning that the name and the fine reputation of BSC is being heard far and wide.
The Board had our new (well nearly) Senior School Student Services teacher Ben Dawkins speak at our last meeting. His enthusiasm for his role and the students in his care was heartwarming, and the smile on his face when talking about them proves that we have selected well. If you have not seen the Indiginous artwork of welcome on the school steps, you really should take some time to come and have a look. Do yourself a favour and get Ben to explain the story behind it if you really want to get a feel good story about our school.
