Deputy Principal - Middle School
Term 3 has started with lots of conversations and planning around subject selections for 2023. Students in Years 8 and 9 are currently choosing their elective subjects for 2023. This is exciting for students as it begins the career planning conversations and exploration of how to achieve the goals they set for next year and beyond. If you have any questions about this process, please contact the school.
Year 7 Lightning Carnival
Most of our Year 7 students attended the Lightning carnival against local schools in Week 2. Reports from staff who attended said that our students showed fantastic teamwork, tried hard at the respective sports and were great ambassadors for the school. Well done to all students and staff involved on a very successful day.
Semester 2 Timetables
All students have received their Semester 2 timetables. Year 7 and 8 students have been rotated through their electives and will be in new classes with different specialist teachers. Some Year 7 – 10 students have also had adjustments made to their MESH classes. Students should now be in classes that better suit their academic level. Teachers will provide ongoing feedback regarding student progress throughout the semester and can also be contacted if you have any concerns.
Enrolments 2023
Belridge SC is currently accepting Year 7 enrolments for 2023. Enrolment packages have now been distributed to all our partner primary schools. The Year 7 Coordinator for 2023, Alison Zarrop, and I are visiting all primary schools to speak to students. Enrolment packages are also available from reception. We require enrolment applications returned as soon as possible to allow sufficient planning time for 2023. Returned enrolment applications should also contain all necessary documentation. This includes a copy of the full birth certificate, two proofs of address (current rates notice or current lease agreement and a utilities bill or driver's licence), immunisation records and any applicable Family Court Orders. Should you have any concerns about the enrolment process, please contact reception on 9408 8000.
Parent Tours
We have another opportunity for parents to visit and look around Belridge Secondary College on the morning of Wednesday 24 August. It is an opportunity for prospective parents to have a tour of the school, complete enrolment forms and have any questions answered. More details can be found on the school website under News & Events or by contacting reception.
Student Services Incursions
During Week 1 all students attended either Man up or We Are Women incursions. The incursions raised important, age-appropriate topics with students such as the use of social media, friendships and relationships. The sessions received excellent feedback from students; we hope important lessons were learnt. We are looking forward to further incursions to support student wellbeing this term.
