On Wednesday the 1st of May, Year 11 General Geography students visited areas of Perth's northern beaches. The purpose of the field trip was that students could perform geographical fieldwork techniques such as field sketches, photographing, and note-taking. Students also gained a greater appreciation for the fragility of our coastline and how much our lifestyle has impacted upon it. Students were particularly taken aback at the Watermans area, the construction of sea walls and evidence of sandbagging displaying just how close the ocean is to everyday infrastructure. The day saw us visit the Scarborough redevelopment, Trigg Island, Watermans Conservation Area, Hillarys Boat Harbour, and Quinns Beach. Fantastic weather combined with a lunch stop at Hillarys meant a very enjoyable and educational day was had by all.
