Principal's Report
Welcome to Term 2, in a blink of an eye we are already more than half way through the term and have some great stories and news to share with you.
Year 8 Camp
The highlight of this term so far has to be our C8 Camp. In Week 4, 107 Year 8 students attended the Swan Valley Adventure Centre for a 3-day camp. As usual, our teachers stepped up to the plate volunteering their time and energy making this an amazing event that the students will remember for a long time. The camp provided the chance for teachers and students to see each other in a different light, to build relationships and strengthen bonds that will hopefully translate into effective partnerships back at school. Feedback from the camp staff and teachers who attended has been very positive. The kids were awesome, they had a fantastic time and engaged well with the activities. A big thank you to all the staff that attended and gave up their time, in particular Jodie Grieve (Year 8 Coordinator) for her hard work in the organisation and management of the event.
NAPLAN
This term has also seen Year 7 and 9 participate in the NAPLAN online testing. Our ICT and infrastructure held out well and progressed with minimal disruption. A small drop out nationally in Week 4 was dealt with quickly with flexibility and professionalism. Thank you to Carlos Notarpietro for the organisation and management of the NAPLAN testing, along with our Maths and English staff for their support.
Course Tasters
Early this term we also held our student course tasters for prospective students. This year we added a STEM taster session to the choices, which saw a huge uptake resulting in the event becoming booked out. Our Fashion, Cricket, Netball, Dance and Music programs were all well represented. This event did also include a parent tour that unfortunately had to be cancelled due to COVID restrictions. However, we have had a huge response to our rescheduled date in Week 6. Thank you to the staff for planning and delivery of these sessions. I saw lots of smiling faces leaving at the end of the session. Hopefully we get to see them again as Belridge students next year.
Student Services Team
As part of our commitment to the holistic support of our students, we have recently changed the structure of our Student Services Team. This sees the addition of Mr Chadd Richardson joining us in the position of Head of Student Services – Middle School (Years 7-9). Chadd joins us with a wealth of experience in this role. I would like to take this opportunity to publically welcome Chadd to the team and join our Belridge family.
Course Selections for 2022
Students in Years 8-11 will be selecting their subjects for 2022 very shortly. Handbooks are in the process of being finalised and will be available soon on our school website under the curriculum section.
Parents - We Need You!
Many of you may have seen on Facebook or Connect that are School Board elections are open. This process is open to staff and parents. I would really like to take this opportunity to ask our parents in particular to apply for these positions. I think sometimes people assume that we have lots of applicants and that we don’t need anymore, but the fact is we need you! We have very few applicants and it is such an important part of our school governance. So, if you feel you can give up 2 hours, twice per term and would like to be an active member of the school community, please download a nomination form from our school website and either hand it in to the front office or email to Nicola Harris - Parent Board nomination form
Annual Report 2020
Our Annual Report for 2020 is also available on our school website for your reference detailing our achievements against our School Business Plan targets across the 2020 school year.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
