School Board Matters - May
And indeed it is. You will read in other areas of the school magazine of all the wonderful things that are happening both within and outside of the general curriculum that expose our students to wonderful opportunities. Take time to think about what these opportunities mean to the education and enhancement of skills to our students.
The two main things coming out of the recent board meeting is the call for nominations for parents to sit on the school board. Our current parent representatives terms are very shortly coming to an end and new members are being sought from our parent community. We are looking for parents to fill terms of 1 year, 2 years and 3 years on the board. Please don’t think that someone else will do it, as that is not always the case. If you would like the opportunity to contribute to the school in an impactful way, the board is a great way of doing that. You will only be required for board meetings twice a term for approximately 2 hours a meeting, and this is a wonderful opportunity for your voice to be heard in ways that have a strong impact on the way the school operates. Look out on connect, and our Facebook page for more information around this.
Secondly I regret to inform that due to public sector standards we again need to advertise our Principals position. I am very aware of the impact this has on our schools leadership and stability. Unfortunately it is deemed as a requirement through the PSS. The education department have tried to work with us to ensure a continuity of leadership, however their hands are tied at this stage. I will sit on the selection panel and put the view of the school forward on what we believe to be the best decision in regards to the continued and stable leadership of the school at this stage.
