Embracing opportunities.  Optimistic outlook.  Nothing to lose.  Many students from Belridge SC chose to listen and learn from the amazingly talented, internationally acclaimed Australian author and Gold Emmy Award Winner, AJ Betts, who recently visited our campus and shared her experiences. 

Amanda presented three distinct sessions focussing on: her new novel Hive, her life as an author and a small group of 35 invested students actively participated in an in depth writers’ workshop, where they played and developed their writing before sharing their scripts with their peers. The buzz from audience members in each session was infectious, particularly the writers’ workshop. The unexpected twist: writing the same scene five different ways, exploring action, senses, flashback, change of view from a different character and change of tone.

I am confident all participants will reflect on AJ’s wisdom and utilise the skills learned in future situations. The thirst for more life experiences exuded from students as they thanked AJ and enquired after similar opportunities available for them in the future.
