An exciting Belridge future ...

I would like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge our students, staff and community for their contributions to a smooth and successful start to Semester Two. There has been some important events and work done that underpins the future of our school, and an exciting one it is.

New Performing Arts Centre

The plans for our new Performing Arts Centre (PAC) were unveiled to our school community at the Open Board meeting in early August. The Architects, Iredale Pederson Hook, shared the design and functionality of this incredible new space and wowed the audience. This new facility is going to take our already successful Arts Programs to a new level and enhance the opportunities for our students and the wider community. The new Performing Arts Centre is causing such interest that we had the Premier, Hon Mark McGowan, and local MP Emily Hamilton visit us this week to view the plans, tour our school and talk to school board members.

It is my pleasure to share with you some of the schematic diagrams of this exciting project in this newsletter.

Public School Review

We are a proud Independent Public School, trusted and empowered to make decisions for the students at our school. A responsibility of being an IPS school is to participate in an external school review every 3 years. We undertook our school review this term and the two reviewers confirmed what we already knew... that we are a great school. As soon as the report is made final we will present this to our school community and make it public through our website and Schools Online website.

The reviewers included comments, such as “this is a school that provides learning opportunities for all students”, “there is a sense of happiness amongst staff, students and parents” and “there is an unwavering commitment and embedded responsibility to lead. There is a wide held belief that every student deserves a chance.”

A special thank you to Scott Amy and Deb Childs (Parents and School Board Members), Primary School Principals, staff and students who met with the review team during their visit.

We look forward to sharing with all of our families our next business plan and future direction of our school during the coming months.
